Thank you for your lovely comments, just because I’m not around and typing this on my phone, doesn’t mean we can’t connect, and you know how much I love to hear from you, it means a great deal every time I get a ping or email.
I had a good week reading and riding my bicycle, spent the weekend out in the sunshine, and cooled off in our paddling pool. The weather this week has been up and down, it’s a particular delight to wear shorts and a t-shirt while holding an umbrella above my head. Back home, rain means covering up and staying warm as well as dry.
Slightly disappointing to know that these still exist - Nine damaging myths that weaken dual language learning (via ACTFL)
Great series of summer workshops from CALICO.
Colleagues back home might be amazed at the accusations leveled at US colleges and universities, or maybe not.

Academic, journalist, and key author of the 1619 Project Nikole Hannah-Jones (mentioned in Issue # 68) joins Howard University.

Carnegie Mellon Libraries has a new podcast “Cut Pathways” exploring the journeys of students, faculty, and staff through their time at the institution. It is produced by the Oral History Program and hosted by Katherine Barbera and David Bernabo.
I’m a bit obsessed with the Westinghouse Atom Smasher, it features in my dreams, that’s why I had to go and visit it. I’m going to have some fun with you and say that it seemed to radiate great power and I had that strange feeling of being watched while I photographed it. Not the last word on this rusting relic of the atomic age.
BrickIt is amazing, scan your lego box and see what you can build with it.
Absolutely gutted about Sha’Carri Richardson’s positive drug test. It really is time to update the list of banned substances; not sure anyone ever did anything faster on marijuana. She will miss the games, but we will miss her more.
That’s all I have for you, take care.
